The North Pole Is Getting Closer for Talented Teenagers
Winners from 22 countries will have a unique opportunity to go on an Arctic expedition aboard the nuclear icebreaker “50 Let Pobedy” this August
On 5 May 2026, an international competition was launched as part of the scientific and educational project “Icebreaker of Knowledge”, which is being organized by Rosatom State Corporation for the seventh time. The selection process for international participants is operated by the ANO Energy of the Future. Following the competition, one winner from each of the 22 countries will take part in a real Arctic expedition onboard a nuclear icebreaker to the North Pole in August 2026.
The competition is open to school students aged 14 to 16 from 22 countries worldwide: Armenia, Bangladesh, Belarus, Bolivia, Brazil, Hungary, Vietnam, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Myanmar, Namibia, Rwanda, Serbia, Tanzania, Türkiye, Uzbekistan, and the Republic of South Africa.
Young explorers will go through a three-stage selection process on the international competition website goarctic.energy. First, participants will take a science quiz consisting of 30 questions. Next, they will take part in a series of webinars, each followed by interactive tasks. Following the two stages, ten finalists with the highest scores will be selected from each country, and they will compete for the main prize. The finalists will need to prepare a creative video presentation on a given topic. Ultimately, the jury will select one winner from each country, who will have the chance to see the legendary North Pole with their own eyes!
